Despondent dog can sense his hours are numbered

[Update below this article.]

Houston, TX – A video of a dog sitting atop his cot at the Harris County Animal Shelter has been circulating on Twitter all morning. He looks to be pitifully dejected. However you want to describe his demeanor — scared, sad, despondent, or all of the foregoing emotions — he sits facing the wall to his right with his head held down and his eyes averted. He doesn’t dare look at, or toward, the videographer.

Source: Twitter

In the video, you can hear the videographer providing his information. His name is Toby and he was surrendered by his owner. He’s heartworm postive. The videographer goes on to say, “He’s so scared, he won’t even come out of his kennel.”

Whatever the reason behind his surrender, the image is sad and the optics aren’t positive for the owner who surrendered this apparently sensitive dog.

Information on Toby as it appeared on Twitter:

    • Toby was picked up yesterday by a rescue group, according to an AC officer when I called this morning. FYI, we provide numbers in the article. Feel free to call if you need an update. We have our own rescue organization, but write these articles when time permits for the purpose of networking and saving animals in need. Thank you for caring and thank you in advance.
